Backup & Data

Keep your data safe with local storage and backups.

Your data in Koubou is stored locally in your browser. This means complete privacy—your content never touches our servers.

Local-First Storage

All your data is stored in your browser:

  • Projects and files
  • Smart Prompts
  • Workflows
  • Blueprints
  • Personas
  • Notes
  • AI settings

Privacy benefit: Only minimal account information is stored in the cloud for authentication. Your content stays on your device.

Google Drive Backup

Automatic backups to Google Drive keep your data safe:

  1. Enable in account settings
  2. Configure backup frequency (5 minutes to 12 hours)
  3. Set how many backups to keep
  4. Backups are stored in a “Koubou Backups” folder

Note: Google only grants access to your Google Drive for 1 hour after you grant permission. This means automatic backups will only run during that window. You’ll need to re-authorize periodically to continue automatic backups.

Keep this file somewhere safe as an extra precaution.

  1. Go to account settings
  2. Click Restore from Backup
  3. Select your backup file
  4. Confirm restoration

Important: Restoration replaces all current data. The backup must be from the same user account.
