Projects & Files

Organize your work with projects, folders, and files.

Projects are the top-level way to organize your work in Koubou. Each project has its own files, folders, and can have dedicated Smart Prompts and Workflows.

Creating a Project

  1. Click the menu button next to the project selector at the bottom of the left pane
  2. Select New Project
  3. Enter a name for your project

Project Settings

Projects can store optional metadata to help organize your work:

  • Priority (High, Medium, Low)
  • Status (Planning, In Progress, On Hold, Awaiting Approval, Completed)

Access project settings by clicking the menu button to the project selector and choose Project Settings.

Switching Projects

Click the project selector at the bottom of the left pane to see all your projects. Click any project to switch to it.

Files and Folders

Creating

  • Click the + Folder or + File button at the top of the file pane.

You can create:

  • Folder — For organizing files
  • Rich Text file — For writing content
  • Memory file — For storing reusable context

Organizing

  • Drag and drop to move files and folders
  • Double-click to rename
  • Context-menu for more options (delete, duplicate, etc.)
  • Search using the filter box at the top

File Types

Koubou supports two file types:

Rich Text Files

Traditional document editing with:

  • Text formatting (bold, italic, headings, lists)
  • AI tools in the right pane
  • Dynamic context variables based on cursor position

Best for: Writing articles, blog posts, documentation, scripts, and any content.

Memory Files

Structured key-value storage:

  • Define labels (keys) and content (values)
  • Use as variables in prompts
  • Quick reference for reusable information

Best for: Brand guidelines, product details, character profiles, frequently used context.
