Workbench Overview

Your main workspace for content creation.

The workbench is where you do your work in Koubou. It’s a three-pane layout designed for focused content creation with AI tools at your fingertips.

The Three Panes

File tree showing all folders and files in your current project
Project selector at the bottom to switch between projects
Expand/collapse folders to organize your view
Backup button to backup/restore your data

Center Pane: Editor

Displays your currently open file
Tabs at the top let you switch between multiple open files
The editor adapts based on file type (Rich Text or Memory)

Right Pane: Tools

Context-specific tools based on what file you have open:

For Rich Text files:

Prompt input for quick AI use
Smart Prompts library
Workflows library

For Memory files:

Import/export tools
AI-assisted fill options

Resizing Panes

Drag the dividers between panes to customize your layout:

Make the editor wider when focused on writing
Expand the tools panel when working with AI
Collapse panes you don’t need at the moment

Your layout preferences are remembered.

The thin bar on the far left provides quick access to:

Toolbox — Access areas like bleprints, smart prompts, etc.
Models tray — Select your active AI model
Notes — Cross-project quick notes
Customizer — Theme and color settings
Recipes — Pre-built packs of smart prompts, workflows, and more
Docs — Link to this docs page you’re reading now
Account — Your account settings

Quick Tips

Multiple files: Click files to open them in tabs
Saved in realtime: No need to click save buttons, your changes are saved in realtime as you work
Close files: Click the X on any tab
